"Hurting Myself" is a very funny song.  Digger Lou calls it her "punk banjo" single.

The song arose because, ya see, her boyfriend (there on the cover) sports some of them little rings all around his lips...He's got a few in his nose too, and a chain from there clear across to a 3 inch safety pin thru his ear... The spiked dog collar is complemented by the small spiked ball in his eyebrow.  And he has several other noteworthy decorations that, um, prob'ly shouldn't be mentioned here...

Ya know, it's really hard to love someone like that..., very difficult..

The song was originally a demo made for pitching. It turned out so good, it was crying out It turned out so good, it was crying out to be made into a single.

The photos alone are priceless. The photographer, F. Daniel Kent, said he "nearly wet himself" when he heard this tune for the first time when he caught Digger performing it at the Dark Horse Theatre in Nashville, TN.

Have a listen yourself.

Also check out Digger's full-length CD, "Hot Runnin' Water: Stories of Tennessee", also available  at CD Baby.  It contains 11 original humorous and pleasant tunes in the "folkgrass" genre.  (Mark Dyer, DJ at WANT-FM in Lebanon, TN, describes Digger's music as a cross between "old-timey and punk".)
