About PyroShot
The
PyroShot line of hand-held ground ignition
launchers is designed to support ground fire ignition
during burn operations. The PyroShot is an
incendiary plastic sphere dispenser whose primary
function is to supplement the use of drip torches by
allowing the operator to place spot fire at locations
that may be difficult or impossible to access with a
torch. Costing far less and with a greater range than
traditional flare guns, the PyroShot can launch
Dragon Eggs over and across ditches, canals,
creeks, bogs, briars, fences, thickets and deep
drainages to provide ignition without having to hack
through the underbrush to gain personal access or plan
your escape after light up. Since
there is no open flame, the PyroShot can safely
be used in areas where a drip torch may present a
hazard and it can launch from a variety of platforms.
ATVs, four wheelers and airboats have already been
used successfully to dispense Dragon Eggs using
the PyroShot. Dragon Eggs are the same
one inch diameter incendiary spheres used by the
Red Dragon helicopter-borne dispenser and the
Green Dragon surface vehicle mounted launcher.
The
Dragon / PyroShot product line of tools is the
result of a collaborative effort between Field
Support Services of Atlanta, Georgia USA and
SEI Industries of Vancouver BC Canada which began
in 2004.
PyroShot FBS-1 (Fire Ball Shooter One) Spring Powered
Launcher

The concept of a simple mechanical device to hand
launch incendiary spheres belongs to Rusty Boys,
owner of Field Support Services, who realized that
calling in a helicopter to ignite small burn plots is
not cost efficient, and that a drip torch ignites by
putting a live flame literally under the operator’s
feet. There had to be a better way, and so the
PyroShot was born. It’s easy to use: a single
pull / push action loads, charges and launches the
sphere. The PyroShot is light and easy to
carry in the field. Just screw on a bottle of
ethylene glycol and toss a bag of Dragon Eggs
over your shoulder and you’re ready to go. With a
range of 40 to 75 feet, an operator can place a fire
in any part of a 150 foot swath in a single pass.
PyroShot HS (High Speed) Gas Powered Launcher

After
successful field operations of the spring powered
launcher, some users commented that longer range would
be very useful under certain conditions, so Field
Support Services developed the gas powered
PyroShot HS, which will deliver ignition at ranges
from 30 meters to 100 meters, depending on gas
pressure and optional shot tank reduction. This model
has proved very popular, as its range capabilities can
overcome just about any obstacle, including tall trees
and steep hillsides.
