March 22, 2010 - First, this is not Jeff Busby's version or even my version of JB's version. The similarities are because I am working from the same drawings from SJ's original 1980 manuscript produced by Ray Massecar (copy included). It has two secret magnets and a secret compartment to facilitate the ring on rope or brass curtain rod and to take the place of the hidden cardboard pocket in Stewart James original routine using the piece of red carpet sample. I have deliberately left off the brass corners on the lid just to make sure it's not confused with the JB version. In James 1980 routine he calls for several push pins or large head thumb tacks to be used with the cabinet. I have substituted the nice solid brass knobs you see above the holes on each end of the cabinets in these new pictures. I have also decided to add several powerful magnets to the piece. For example, James calls for a piece of double stick magnetic tape on the back of the cabinet. I decided to add a powerful magnetic screw to the hinge where James called for the tape and it works great. |
